Through this initiative, MHAHS aims to foster awareness and understanding of HIV prevention, testing, and treatment in culturally and linguistically diverse communities, encouraging everyone to take an active role in reducing stigma and supporting those affected by HIV.<\/p>\n<p>Barbara Luisi, Manager of MHAHS, stated, \u201cThe \u2018It Starts With Me\u2019 campaign reminds us that each of us has a role to play in reducing HIV stigma and supporting health equity. The updated HIV: What You Need to Know booklet, combined with our toolkit, empowers individuals and communities alike with the knowledge and resources they need to take action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>HIV stigma and discrimination has deterred many from HIV testing, especially in diverse communities. With over 29,000 Australians currently living with HIV, improving access to free HIV testing and reducing HIV stigma are essential. NSW Health offers a variety of free HIV self-testing options, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.nsw.gov.au\/dbstest\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dried Blood Spot Testing <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/mytest.health.nsw.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MyTest<\/a>. Early testing is important for prompt treatment. In New South Wales, HIV treatment is free for anyone who has HIV. You do not need a Medicare card to get free treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Stay up-to-date with the latest information and download the newly updated HIV: What You Need to Know booklet, now featuring the latest treatment information. The booklet is available as a downloadable e-booklet from our website, with free hard copies also available upon request.
